About Us
Our Story
Founded in 2008
Founded in 2008, French Character Homes is today a curated portal of France's finest character properties, serving the most discerning international purchasers.
Our selection spans châteaux, manor houses, maisons de maître, hôtels particuliers, wine estates and mills — each chosen for its period architecture, its unspoiled setting and, as our name suggests, its character. We focus on exceptional homes from €150,000.
What sets us apart is the selection. Rather than listing everything, we present only truly remarkable homes — so every visit to the portal is worth your while.
French Character Homes is a portal, not an agency. Every property is marketed by a French estate agency or by its owner, and an enquiry sent from a property's page goes directly to them: they answer it, arrange any viewing and handle the sale. We act for neither the buyer nor the seller.
With roots in South West France and reach across the whole country, our bilingual team knows the market for fine French homes — and what buyers from around the world are looking for — intimately.
